Paleo trip blog post day 1 - Hannah Block

Today was our first day on the paleontology a-term. We gathered at the school and met in the science lab to go over the book we had read. We talked about our plan for the rest of the day. We then went to the HMNS and met with Mr. David Temple. We went on a short tour of the new paleo lab and then we toured the Permian exhibit. we then met back with Mr. Temple at the paleo lab and got to go in the secret back room/storage room to find all of the things we needed for the trip. We started an assembly line and passed down several items and packed them up. After this, we went to lunch across the street at the medical center and got some snacks and/or lunch. we met back at the volunteer library where Mr. Temple told some funny, iconic stories. Then we had our own time to group up and tour whatever parts of the museum we wanted. My group went up to the fourth floor where they had the Weiss energy exhibit where my favorite part was a set up of a futuristic version of Houston all over the wall in 3d. After this, we went back to the school and went over some more details on the trip itself and we did research on one of the animals/organisms we would like to further learn about from the Paleozoic era.
